The Fighters Series

Welcome to the official home of The Fighters series by Kolleen Bookey, a post-apocalyptic thriller saga where survival isn’t the only battle. The world changed in a single devastating event, and what’s left is dangerous, unpredictable, and brutally human.

Because danger doesn’t always come from the outside, Riley Collins is forced to trust her instincts and the visions she can’t explain. Along the way, she finds allies, faces ruthless enemies, and discovers that hope can be as sharp as any weapon.

About the book

The world ended the day Riley Collins decided to run.

They call it the Shift, a cataclysm that shattered civilization and unleashed something far worse. Nearly two years later, Riley isn’t just surviving, she’s searching.

Haunted by the past and hunted by the infected, she crosses a decaying wasteland to find her twin brother… and maybe a reason to keep going. However, the road is ruthless. Towns have turned savage. Monsters wear human faces.

Even so, the most dangerous thing isn’t always lurking in the dark. It’s the fire-eyed predator who’s decided Riley belongs to him.

Riley doesn’t travel alone. Two orphaned children cling to her like a promise, and Jack Colton, a lethal paramilitary with secrets of his own, becomes both her protector and her temptation. He says she’s a distraction. Still, when Riley vanishes, Jack will risk everything to bring her back, launching a mission that could cost them the very future they’re fighting for.

Captured. Broken. Reborn.

In the end, Riley must become something stronger than she ever imagined… or lose everything she has left.

The Diviner is a pulse-pounding tale of survival, sacrifice, and fierce, forbidden love in a world where mercy no longer exists.

Inside the Book

The sound swelled, pulsing in her skull. Her breath came in rapid, ragged gasps. Her fingers scraped along the surface beneath her, meeting wood—rough and splintered.

A box.

A choked scream died in her throat. She thrashed, her head slamming into the unyielding surface above. Stars exploded behind her eyelids, pain lancing through her skull. The taste of copper bloomed on her tongue. She clawed at the wood, her nails splintering. Her lungs burned. The realization settled like a broken glass in her gut.

People moved through the space—laughing, browsing, chatting. A woman behind the counter smiled as she showed a young couple an engagement ring. Music played softly from overhead. Riley stood in the center, unseen, untouched, the ghost in someone else’s yesterday.

Then it happened.

A tremor rocked the store, just a flicker—barely enough to make a rack of bracelets sway. But the air shifted. Phones lit up. The smiles faltered.

The woman at the counter reached for her phone, her face draining of color.

Another tremor. Louder. Stronger.

The lights above burst. Screams replaced music. The front windows shattered inward as people outside surged against the glass, clawing for entry. Looters, survivors, opportunists—maybe all three.

The store plunged into chaos.

Someone knocked over a stool. A man grabbed a tray of watches and ran. The couple that had been picking out a ring were shoved to the floor and vanished beneath the feet of the mob pouring in. The clerk screamed for help, her voice raw, begging—but no one listened.

Glass rained down. Blood hit the tiles.

She paused, her fingers grazing the edge of a display case. What did it look like—the world breaking? Not just falling apart, but unraveling, thread by thread? It had all happened so fast. Too fast. And yet, looking at this place, she wondered if the world had been this fragile all along.

Riley stepped inside the jewelry store, the broken glass crunching beneath her boots like brittle ice. The air was heavy, saturated with a kind of stillness that didn’t feel empty—it felt waiting. Her eyes scanned the wreckage: overturned stools, shattered glass, velvet displays torn and empty. A few links of fake gold glinted in the dust, forgotten by thieves too rushed or too afraid to stay long

She drifted deeper, her fingers grazing the edge of a display case, and then—

A chill moved through her.

The shadows shifted, and the store around her brightened—not with electricity, but with memory. Her breath caught. The dust in the air dissolved, the glass restored, and the lights above flickered to life. She wasn’t alone anymore.
